The Byline: 60 second interview with Rachel Longman
The Investment Buyer from MediaCom tells us how playing with a BBC session band led to her musical talent, reveals a love of ‘Cereal‘ and how magazine media helps to build brand trust for her clients.
What do you do:
I work in MediaCom’s investment print team, but since the start of the year we’ve taken on increasingly more digital work reflecting the changing nature of how people consume content. I really enjoy working on both print and digital and I work on Tesco, Universal, CRUK and American Airlines.
Passion:
I play the piano and love gyming!
How did you get into it:
We had a piano in my house when I was growing up. I was desperate to learn when I was four and have been playing ever since.
I’ve been going to the gym for as long as I can remember, but I decided to up my training a couple of years ago. I really enjoy pushing myself and I see a personal trainer monthly to improve my form and learn new things to try.
Tell us more:
I passed my Grade 8 when I was at school and played with a BBC session band which was really fun, and the gym has helped me to become fitter and braver when it comes to resistance training!
How does magazine media help:
I love reading Women’s Health for new exercise tips and advice from new studies. I also read Stylist and Time Out on my commute for interesting articles, new beauty products and tips on what to do at the weekend. I also absolutely love Cereal, it’s the most beautiful magazine ever!
What are your favourite magazine brands:
My favourite magazine is definitely Women’s Health.
Clients you work with:
Tesco, Universal, Nikon, Harper Collins, CRUK, American Airlines, Kenwood, De’Longhi and many more.
How does magazine media best help your clients?
Magazines are a fantastic way to reach engaged audiences and build brand trust, particularly through contextually relevant partnerships and content pieces.
What is your favourite current magazine ad/ad campaign?
I really liked the F&F campaign we ran with Bauer for their Autumn-Winter fashion range. The Icelandic shoot was fab and we used Heat, Closer and Grazia in print and online to showcase the new trends. I also love the Chambord campaign that’s been running in Stylist – it’s really impactful and looks great!
Tell us a little known fact about yourself:
I get far too addicted to box sets – anything HBO is a winner.
