Magnetic recommends: Time Out’s Love Thy Neighbourhood

Podcasts are one of the fastest-growing channels for trusted editorial brands – they not only deliver highly engaged audiences but also opportunities for advertisers. Each month, we highlight a podcast from a PPA Magnetic member, share what it’s all about, and who listens to it.

What is Love Thy Neighbourhood?

Presented by the editor of Time Out in London, Joe Mackertich, Love Thy Neighbourhood sees a famous person show us around a bit of London that means a lot to them. Each episode covers one area, and within it four locations, always ending in a pub or a bar. If you fancy being guided around Hoxton by Derren Brown, shown Primrose Hill by Jameela Jamil or talked at, loudly, in Hammersmith by Jamie Laing, then this is the podcast for you.

And it’s not just us who think it’s a great listen – Love Thy Neighbourhood won the award for ‘Best Podcast – Consumer’ at the BSME Talent Awards in 2024.

What’s the USP?

The USP is the fact it’s recorded while walking around the streets of London, going in and out of cafes, pubs, and parks with a celebrity. It adds extra texture and spontaneity to the recording: the city itself is a guest, and throws up some hilarious moments that you’d never get in a studio.

The tone is knowledgeable, funny, and down-to-earth, but also useful – all things you hopefully already associate with Time Out. And we’re really proud of having secured some incredible guests, both for past episodes and the rest of the current series, who are a delight to spend time with.

How often can we listen?

A new episode every Tuesday, while the series is being broadcast. This is the third series of 12 episodes, produced in conjunction with content agency Ralph.

Who’s the audience?

Londoners eager to learn more about their city, and lovers of top-quality comedy podcasts – such as Off Menu, Table Manner, all that jazz.

How can advertisers work with you?

Advertisers can buy spots (including host reads) and sponsor individual episodes or an entire series. The first two series (and a Christmas special) were sponsored by transport app Free Now. We’re also keen to bring the podcast to cities beyond London in the future. Email advertising@timeout.com to discuss opportunities.

Most recent episode

Ted Lasso villain Nick Mohammed walks us around his professional and personal backyard, Richmond. Incidentally, he’s the second breakout star of The Celebrity Traitors we’ve had on the pod, following Paloma Faith’s Cockney Christmas special.
