Planet Rock Publishes Collector’s Covers to Celebrate Led Zeppelin’s 50th Anniversary
Bauer Media’s Planet Rock magazine is to publish four collector’s covers to mark the 50th anniversary of iconic rock band Led Zeppelin.
Four embossed black and gold foil covers carry the Led Zeppelin logo along with a design that together configures to make a zeppelin airship. Each of the four covers bears the unique symbol chosen to represent each of the four band members – vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and late drummer John Bonham – on the phenomenal Led Zeppelin IV album.
Fans can look forward to a 22-page feature on the band, including a world exclusive interview and photo shoot with founding member and band leader Jimmy Page, in which the guitarist talks about future Led Zeppelin releases and ruminates on whether the band will ever play live together again.
Since its launch last May Planet Rock magazine has delivered rock fans an irresistible package of exclusive content and bespoke collectible art work with issues dedicated to Motörhead, Queen, Black Sabbath, Metallica and Deep Purple.
Commenting on the issue, editor Paul Brannigan said: “We wanted to round off the inaugural year of Planet Rock magazine in a genuinely special manner, and what better way than by paying tribute to the greatest, most iconic hard rock band of them all? With Led Zeppelin celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2018 we’re honoured to have a world exclusive interview with their visionary leader Jimmy Page, who sheds light upon both the quartet’s illustrious past and their as-yet-unwritten future. Given Zeppelin’s magical alchemy it seemed appropriate to salute each of the four band members with their own bespoke cover. We hope that these beautiful covers and the epic, revelatory 22-page Zeppelin feature within will serve as a fitting celebration of both this singular, legendary band and indeed Planet Rock’s own distinguished louder-than-life ethos.”
Elsewhere in the issue readers can look forward to an interview with Eric Clapton, a look back at Van Halen’s game-changing debut album on its 40th anniversary, a tribute to late Motörhead guitarist ‘Fast’ Eddie Clarke (whose last major interview came in the launch edition of the magazine), plus coverage on the likes of Foo Fighters, ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix, Judas Priest, Black Country Communion and more.
*Planet Rock magazine hits newsstands on Friday, 16 February.
