BAUER MEDIA LAUNCHES TWO NEW MAGAZINE IN ONE WEEK
Bauer Media is launching an exciting new genre of true-crime magazine called Crime Monthly.
Crime Monthly will deliver a new take on real crime and comes at a time when interest in the subject is at an all-time high, thanks to an explosion of crime documentaries on main TV channels; dedicated crime channels running 24-hour content; hit Netflix series including Ted Bundy: Conversations With A Killer, Evil Genius and Making A Murderer, and popular podcasts, such as the global smash-hit Serial.
The launch follows Bauer’s recent successes with Planet Rock magazine, and Pilot TV in 2017 and real-life title Simply You in 2018.
Issue one of Crime Monthly will hit newsstands on Thursday 7 March with a special introductory cover price of £1.99.
Commenting on the launch, Rob Munro-Hall, Group Managing Director, Bauer Magazine Media UK, said, “Print magazines are still very much at the heart of what we do at Bauer and we are always looking to invest in great ideas. Facination in real-life crimes is exploding on all platforms, and we’re excited to be the first publisher to take advantage of this new opportunity“.
Created by the brains behind weekly entertainment title heat magazine, the editorial team includes Julia Davis at the helm as editor-in-chief, Steph Seelan as deputy editor and includes input from TV and entertainment editor Kay Ribeiro.
Crime Monthly will feature interviews with authors, crime insiders, experts, filmmakers, victims and pyschologists to bring a new perspective on the world’s most intriguing crimes and crime stories. The magazine will also include the very first fully-comprehensive 16-page TV and entertainment section focussed on crime content available now and released in the month ahead. The section includes television, film, book and podcast reviews by the team.
The launch will be supported by a marketing campaign that utilises Bauer Media’s existing print and digital portfolio, including house advertisements in heat, Closer, Bella and Total TV Guide and a six-eight page sampler published in this week’s heat and Closer, on sale today (Tuesday 5 March).
Crime Monthly will be positioned alongside the women’s weekly titles in retailers including WH Smith, ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons as well as on the Great Magazine website.
