Albert Read Announced as Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain

Read to succeed Nicholas Coleridge as Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain from August this year.

Following a period as Deputy Planning Director, Read joined Condé Nast Britain as General Manager in which role he played a central part in the launch of British Wired, and took over day-to-day oversight of our Circulation department, amongst other things. He was also involved in setting up the Condé Nast business in Mumbai, helped hire talent, and lobby the government to grant permission to publish.

Read was promoted to become Deputy Managing Director in 2010, and has since been involved in every part of the business, from print to digital, consumer marketing to custom publishing. He has simultaneously set up the highly successful Condé Nast International Luxury Conference.

“All those of us who have worked closely with Albert over the past ten years know him to be a first rate media executive, with skills and accomplishments not only on the management and commercial sides of the business, but a sharp eye for editorial quality in both print and digital.  The thing about Albert is that he is smart, hard-working, well-informed, has good judgement and is thoroughly professional in everything he does. He is also a very great pleasure to work with,” commented Nicholas Coleridge.

Read added “I’m thrilled to accept the role of Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain. I long admired Condé Nast in my early life and have been delighted to have been intimately involved in the business since I joined some years ago. It will be an honour and a privilege to lead a stable of titles which, in all their manifestations, put such a strong emphasis on imagination and excellence.  With the strength of the brands and the breadth of talent that we have, there are tremendous opportunities ahead.”

This appointment follows the recent announcement that Nicholas Coleridge will be stepping down from his current roles as Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain and President of Condé Nast International in six months, on August 1st 2017. Wolfgang Blau, who currently heads Condé Nast International’s digital operations, will succeed Coleridge as President of the company.
